I didn’t really want to type much, but thought I should put something up on the site. Go ahead and watch the video. Sorta my first unofficial podcast episode I guess. Although I wouldn’t call it much for being under a minute long. Either way I think it is cool. In less than a minute you will see my computer magically create one of the Poetic Industries Wallpapers. Maybe this will just be the start of my video updates. Who knows. If it does, what would you like to see on the show?

I have been meaning to write something on here for quite a few days. I had a few different post ideas ready to go. However, for some reason I just couldn’t bring myself to organize my thoughts well enough to post on any of the topics I had come up with. Therefore you are left with this….. a collection of websites, blogs and links that I have been visiting lately that I thought you might be interested in.
Relevant Magazine – This one goes without saying that if you haven’t checked this magazine out then stop reading this blog right now…. wait don’t listen to that…. goto it after you’ve finished read this post
Tech Talk – Okay this is shameless self promotion, but really if you need some good tips for using that new mac you just bought, this is a pretty good start.
Plumb – While this website isn’t the best, it is a pretty well put together Christian Arts Journal. I’m actually hoping to get some of my work published in it. You can download pdf’s of back issues which is probably the best part of the whole site.
Kiva – Kiva is the world’s first person-to-person micro-lending website, empowering individuals to lend directly to unique entrepreneurs in the developing world. I plan to make this part of the next project for Poetic Industries.
nakedpastor – Okay, this isn’t what it sounds like. Just a great bunch of reading and art and comics about life as a pastor and follower of Jesus.
Toms Shoes – Every pair of shoes you buy, the company will give a pair of shoes to a child in need.
What sites do you visit? I would love to know the sites my small group of readers goto regularly or that they think I would find interesting? I’ll post more next time as this list doesn’t include many of my regular sites, but is more of those sites which I truly love and inspire me.
Joyce is the girl that Poetic Industries is sponsoring from Watoto Project. We finally received info from Watoto recently on the child we are sponsoring. Joyce needs your help. Joyce is 12 years old, who wants to be a teacher some day. She loves to sing and play games. As some of you know earlier this year, Poetic Industries, decided to take action and do something for those less fortunate in Africa. We began a campaign to sell Tshirts under the Poetic Industries brand and to give the proceeds to Watoto. By buying a T-shirt you are helping to pay for close to 1 months worth of sponsorship. While quite a few shirts have been sold and I can say that 100% of the proceeds from sales are now being donated as the cost of the shirts have been covered. If you would like to help Joyce by buying a shirt, please email poeticindustries AT mac DOT com.
Take a look at the Poetic Industry Page for new designs.
After finally arriving in Abbotsford and being able to sleep in the same bed for more than one night, we decided to take the weekend and visit with family. While in Abbotsford we are staying with my sister Jolene and her family, meanwhile, my other sister Andrea came for the weekend from Coquitlam. It has been so great to see Libby playing together with her cousin Taylor. They sure love to play and are “teaching” each other some “great” things. This trip sure is making me miss living closer to family.
On Sunday we got a chance to head to the Vancouver Zoo. The girls had alot of fun as Libby LOVES the zoo and would stay all day just sitting and watching the animals. Highlights were the giraffe and the Lions. Libby loves to roar like a lion too.
This week we are excited to get a chance to visit some supporters we rarely see. Some of them are relatives that we haven’t seen in a very long time, and some Dawn and Libby have never met.
A note about Poetic Industries,
Before we left Saskatoon, the first run of Poetic shirts was complete and I have been selling them along the way to supporters and friends. Sales are going great. If you would like one email me darylgrunau AT mac DOT com. Remember that profits are going to support the Watoto project in Africa.
Note: As the .Mac subscription is being upgraded to the new Mobileme services, the comments sections of this blog aren’t working. Hopefully this will come back online soon. Until then. You will need to email me.
So I am not moving to BC, I didn’t quite my job, and while I am not starting up a business. (I already have one, Poetic Industries) And no we aren’t pregnant. However, this effects me greatly. The winner is Andrea, I have CUT MY HAIR!!! I am still getting used to the new dew, and I find myself missing the curly locks at times. However, my neck is alot cooler when I am playing Ultimate in the hot weather. Some my find them saying, “That’s it!”, or “Where is the ‘real,’ life altering news?,” however, this is big for me. I haven’t had my hair this short in almost 7 years, and I really enjoyed my long hair. So for right now this is my life altering news. Maybe next time will have more deepening impact for others, but for me, this was as big as I am going for now.
This past weekend God worked it out through His plan that I would attend a concert of “The Watoto Children’s Choir”. For those that don’t know, the Watoto Model is….
“In Africa, there are over 60 million orphaned and vulnerable children (HIV/AIDS, conflict, disability, street children). These staggering numbers will have impact on a family, community, and a nation’s future. In Uganda, the future for many of these children will be changed through the work of Watoto. Raising the next generation of Ugandan leaders is our number one focus. It is our mission, our purpose, our passion. We place these parentless children in families where unconditional love, spiritual discipleship, care and nurture, and the meeting of their physical needs takes place. These children will grow up to be change agents for Uganda. If these children are equipped with essential moral values and life skills they truly can live lives of significance and lasting impact.”
Children from the choir shared passionately about God’s faithfulness, his love and Grace in their lives. They each shared a dream that they had to impact Uganda and how they believed so strong that their dreams would become reality. They shared in a way that I don’t hear from many high school or even college students about God working in their lives. And they where mostly between 10-14 years old. Not only that, but these kids where ALL orphans, they had ALL lost their parents to war, poverty, or HIV/AIDS. I firmly believe that the church needs to get involved in missions like this. Its like the old saying goes, “Give a man a fish, feed him for a day, but teach a man to fish, and feed him for life.” This great project in Uganda is more than just aid, it is “rescuing a child, raising leaders to rebuild a nation.”
That is why I am going to be printing the first Poetic Industries shirts and donating profits to this Project. If you would like to order a shirt. Please email poeticindustries AT mac DOT com.
