Road Journal: At Home

So we made it home. I realize that in a two week long trip I should have more than 4 entries, but I blame a lack of internet access on my lack of blogging. Anyways, we had a great trip home. Libby still continued to surprise us with how well she can travel long drives in the car. We had a couple 8 hour days coming home as we did alot fewer stops along the way. We did break up the trip and spent our first night in a hotel, which thanks to wonderful supporters, was our first hotel of the two weeks. Libby enjoyed the pool and we even got to enjoy the hot tub abit.
We had a wonderful visit with Scott and Vanessa Day in Airdrie on the trip home. Vanessa is kind of a shutter bug and loved taking photos of Libby. Above is an example of one of the photos she edited of their kids playing with Libby. We had a lot of fun and a great time their, so much that we left alot later the next day than planned. From there we made a short visit in Caronport and stayed over night before returning home yesterday.
It’s feels abit weird being home, but it felt so great to sleep in my bed again. And thanks to our awesome neighbour, our yard looks better than when we left. We love our neighbours.

Anyways, go look at some photos over here

And comments are back again. YEAH

Road Journal: Day Ten

After finally arriving in Abbotsford and being able to sleep in the same bed for more than one night, we decided to take the weekend and visit with family. While in Abbotsford we are staying with my sister Jolene and her family, meanwhile, my other sister Andrea came for the weekend from Coquitlam. It has been so great to see Libby playing together with her cousin Taylor. They sure love to play and are “teaching” each other some “great” things. This trip sure is making me miss living closer to family.
On Sunday we got a chance to head to the Vancouver Zoo. The girls had alot of fun as Libby LOVES the zoo and would stay all day just sitting and watching the animals. Highlights were the giraffe and the Lions. Libby loves to roar like a lion too.
This week we are excited to get a chance to visit some supporters we rarely see. Some of them are relatives that we haven’t seen in a very long time, and some Dawn and Libby have never met.

A note about Poetic Industries,
Before we left Saskatoon, the first run of Poetic shirts was complete and I have been selling them along the way to supporters and friends. Sales are going great. If you would like one email me darylgrunau AT mac DOT com. Remember that profits are going to support the Watoto project in Africa.

Note: As the .Mac subscription is being upgraded to the new Mobileme services, the comments sections of this blog aren’t working. Hopefully this will come back online soon. Until then. You will need to email me.

Road Journal: Day Five

First of all, I am sorry that I missed a few days of the journal, but as it turns out, Road Trips can be very busy and exhausting. That’s my excuse and I’m stickin to it. Anyways…. Since day one we have traveled to Turner Valley, AB where we spent a couple days visiting and getting one day without travel. The break in driving turned out to be a great rest on our busy schedule. Then we travelled into the Rockies to Cranbrook. We had a very good visit with some faithful supporters and felt blessed by being in their home. Libby really loved being there and they treated her like another granddaughter. This trip has been so good for visits like this one. We felt so encouraged were reminded how God is looking out for us in our ministry and along our trip.
God has also been showing us his beauty throughout the trip as we drive through the various mountain passes. I have been left in awe as I drive along the winding roads as we drove through the Crowsnest pass and especially as we drove through the heights of the Kootenay Pass. I would love to post some photos of our family as we drove through these beautiful roads, however, both passes Libby and Dawn slept for the majority. Therefore I post this picture of Dawn and Libby standing next to the World’s Largest Truck in Sparwood, BC. You can visit the gallery here

Update: It is actually Day 7 now as I had some issues getting internet till today. We are now in Abbotsford safe and sound and are planning to relax over the weekend with family after the many days on the road.

Road Journal: Day One

Today was the first day on the road. We started off the trip with a relatively easy day. We drove 2.5hrs to Caronport and had a great visit before travelling to Swift Current to spend the night. All in all today was a great day. The downfall to the whole day has been getting Libby to sleep in a new room and in her new bed. With this just being the first night of many on our trip we hope that Libby will learn quickly to adapt to her bed each night, or else we are in for a very long trip.
Tomorrow we have a simpler day, but a longer day as we travel to Calgary area. Until next time.

Road Trip

Tomorrow marks the beginning of the Grunau Western Canada Tour. We are heading South to Caronport and Swift Current. Then from there we venture through Alberta, and Southern BC. It will take us about 6 days to arrive in Abbotsford where we will stay for a week or so before heading home. We are very excited to get to visit with many friends and supporters whom we haven’t seen in quite awhile. We are planning on taking our computer along with us and we hope that we can keep you updated along our travels. Long car rides, a full car, lots of coffee, and a 2 year old should make this a eventful trip.
