I’m online more

So today I became a contributor on a new blog. One dedicated to my inner geek. Check me out on Tech Talk. I made my first post on solving some problems I was having with iChat. That’s all I’m gonna say. If you call yourself a geek and you like gadgets and solving issues on your computer, its a must read.

Website Updated

Hey since somehow I found time to post my life altering news I decided it was time to update my site as well. Not the blog, but the Shirts, Print, About Me, and Eclectic sections of the site. Here you can see some of the projects I have been busy with over the past month. Most note-able is the NMC ’08 Booklet on the Print page. This book has taken much of my time at work lately and is for our annual conference that we in Saskatoon our hosting this year. Check out the rest of it too and let me know what you think.

Life Altering News Update!

So I am not moving to BC, I didn’t quite my job, and while I am not starting up a business. (I already have one, Poetic Industries) And no we aren’t pregnant. However, this effects me greatly. The winner is Andrea, I have CUT MY HAIR!!! I am still getting used to the new dew, and I find myself missing the curly locks at times. However, my neck is alot cooler when I am playing Ultimate in the hot weather. Some my find them saying, “That’s it!”, or “Where is the ‘real,’ life altering news?,” however, this is big for me. I haven’t had my hair this short in almost 7 years, and I really enjoyed my long hair. So for right now this is my life altering news. Maybe next time will have more deepening impact for others, but for me, this was as big as I am going for now.

Fix iWeb for Firefox 3

Due to some bizarre issues between iWeb and the new Firefox 3, those using the new FF3, wouldn’t be able to see photos or blog comments on any page created with iweb ’08. Thanks to some great people on the apple discussion board and a friendly email discussion I was able to get it all fixed. Here is how I did it for those that need to fix there iWeb sites.

First you will need to fix the problem with the photo albums. Luckily someone was kind enough to make a quick little script to do all the hard work for you. Just download this program and run it. Click Here This patches the javascript issue and all you have to do then is republish your site and all should work. This doesn’t work for all pages. Any photo album page your created in iWeb 1.x won’t be affected. However, I soon discovered that if I changed themes around and moved some page elements around enough and republished that the fix would work. This essential changed the page to a iWeb ’08 page and not in the old iWeb 1.x way.

The next problem you might have is not being able to view blog comments. This one wasn’t easy to find a solution. Until a faithful mac discussioner created a install patch for me. You should be able to download it from below. Otherwise email me darylgrunau AT mac DOT com.

To use here is the instructions that I got sent. And it all worked great.

Attached is zip file, unzip it for “Blog Comments Patch.pkg” installer. The installer will install the patched Comments.js inside iWeb.app

Also, a patched Comments.js file, you need add it to your current site Scripts folder (this will save you a publishing):

1) mount your iDisk, in FInder hit Command (⌘Œ˜) + Shift + i
2) Look for Scripts folder in iDisk’s Web folder
3) Then follow this path: Scripts/Widgets/Comments/Comments.js
4) name the current Comments.js to some thing else bad_Comments.js
5) place this Comments.js in the same folder.
clear out FF cache and open your blog entry – cross your fingers.

Life Altering News Alert!!!

Stay tuned for an announcement that will be life altering here at T.P. Keep checking over the next day or so for further updates. I can’t say right now, but I just needed to peak everyone’s interest. Bonus points if anyone guesses the news before I write it here.

The Pink Panthers

One of the biggest reasons for a lack of posts has to do with my level of involvement in Ultimate this summer. It started with one team on Thursdays, then I added a second team to play on Tuesdays. Then I agreed to help with some high school junior practices and it ended up that the jr team is playing Monday nights. So in total 3 nights of Ultimate per week. I am having so much fun helping to coach the Jr Team, “The Pink Panthers.” Not only am I getting to meet some great students, but I am learning alot about the sport and how to teach people how to play. This is the our first team photo, most of us are there, but we are missing one of the coaches.
You might recognize the pink Gymblast® shirts as they are indeed from my office. It was the quickest way to get some cheap jerseys, and the kids are having a blast decorating their shirts with Pink Panther. Pretty talented artists with markers.

Well, I gotta go work on my flick, later.

Flickr Meme

Yeah that’s right I have spent too much time outside playing ultimate that I haven’t posted on her in awhile. So I am relegating myself to a ‘meme.’

The concept:
1. Type your answer to each of the questions below into Flickr Search.
2. Using only the first page of results, and pick one image.
3. Copy and paste each of the URLs for the images into Big Huge Lab’s Mosaic Maker to create a mosaic of the picture answers.

The questions:
1. What is your first name?
2. What is your favorite food? right now?
3. What high school did you go to?
4. What is your favorite color?
5. Who is your celebrity crush?
6. What is your favourite drink?
7. What is your dream vacation?
8. What is your favourite dessert?
9. What do you want to be when you grow up?
10. What do you love most in life?
11. What is one word that describes you?
What is your flickr name?
